Setup Visit Notes defaults

Abstract

By default, when Capable 21C opens the Visit Notes window, it displays the Vertebral tab. There are a range of settings that can change this behaviour. This article describes those settings, and how to change them.

Underlying challenge

The Visit Notes window behaviour can be altered for the office as a whole, for an individual practitioner, or for an individual patient. This means that it can be configured to behave differently from patient to patient, or from practitioner to practitioner. Care should be taken when deciding how the office wishes the Visit Notes window to behave.

Resolution

To change the system-wide default behaviour for the Visit Notes window:

  • Go to Setup|Settings.
  • Go to the Other tab.
  • Click on the Visit Listings system component.
  • Click on the Default Tab system setting.
  • Change the value to be the name of the tab that should be displayed by default. Note that Capable 21C is particularly sensitive to the accuracy of this setting. The name of the tab must be keyed precisely.

To change the practitioner based default behaviour for the Visit Notes window:

  • Go to Setup|Setup Practitioners.
  • Double click on the practitioner in question.
  • Click on the Visit Notes tab.
  • Choose the desired tab from the drop-down list.
  • Click Close.

To change the default behaviour for an individual patient:

  • Open the Visit Notes window for the patient in question.
  • Go to the Vertebral tab.
  • Choose the desired tab from the drop-down list.
  • Close Visit Notes.

Detailed Information

Note that additional features are available to customize the behaviour of the Visit Notes window.

To make the Visit Notes window open automatically:

  • Go to Setup|Settings.
  • Go to the Other tab.
  • Click on the Visit Listings system component.
  • Click on the Open Visit Notes Automatically setting.
  • Change its value to True

To make the PC Play Flash Media in between Visit Notes screens:

  • Go to Setup|Settings.
  • Go to the Other tab.
  • Click on the Visit Listings system component.
  • Click on the Flash Media system setting.
  • Change the value to the exact folder and filename where the Flash media can be accessed. Note that this setting will be shared by several PCs, so the folder and filename should be the same on all PCs. The easiest way to achieve this is to have the Flash media stored on a server (or server PC). Note also that all PC’s required to do this function must have the appropriate version of the Flash Media Player installed on them.
  • Click on the Play Flash Media system setting.
  • Change its value to True.
  • Click Close (no need to apply).
  • Note that the Flash Media presentation will automatically commence playing whenever Visit Notes is closed.  The display will occupy the full screen.  There is a button in the lower right corner that allows the Flash presentation to be closed.

By default, images are displayed in alphabetical order (by the filename of the image file).  It is possible to have the images appear in reverse alphabetical order, and for the first of the files to be automatically treated as the first comparative image.  For example, if there are three images on file, called photo.jpg, picture1.jpg and x-ray.jpg, they will normally appear in that order.  It is possible to have them appear in reverse order (eg x-ray.jpg, picture1.jpg, photo.jpg) and for the first image (x-ray.jpg) to be the default first comparative image.  To ensure that the last image (alphabetically) is always displayed as the first Comparative image:

  • Go to Setup|Settings.
  • Click on the Other tab.
  • Click on the Visit Listings system component.
  • Click on the Default Comparative1 To Last system setting.
  • Change its value to True.
  • Click Close (no need to apply).

To ensure that the image viewer tab always defaults to the last image (alphabetically):

  • Go to Setup|Settings.
  • Click on the Other tab.
  • Click on the Visit Listings system component.
  • Click on the Last Image Default system setting.
  • Change its value to True.
  • Click Close (no need to apply).

To ensure that the Visit Notes window can be closed by the spacebar after a function key is pressed:

  • Go to Setup|Settings.
  • Click on the Other tab.
  • Click on the Visit Listings system component.
  • Click on the FKey Focuses Close system setting.
  • Change its value to True.
  • Click Close (no need to apply).

To ensure that all new function key mappings default to the ‘Patient context’ instead of ‘Applies to all’:

  • Go to Setup|Settings.
  • Click on the Other tab.
  • Click on the Visit Listings system component.
  • Click on the Default Patient Context system setting.
  • Change its value to 1.
  • Click Close (no need to apply).
